SHIFTZERO  ANALYSIS

  • Styling included oversized outerwear and layered bottomweights, along with printed sweats and plush knits
  • There were some exciting new trend directions as in the new mood for decorative embellishments including embroidery and appliqué, bringing a more handcrafted approach into play
  • Outerwear was a strong look along with cropped jackets and duffle updates, tailored jackets took on frockcoat proportions, casual tops got updated with print or plush finishes and knitwear was all about texture and yarn on basic crew-necked shapes
  • Classic coat shapes updated through soft-touch blanket plaids and classic tartan weavescosy, luxurious collections
  • Probably the most instantly commercial interpretation of the handcrafted trend is for applied badges
  •  Another unexpected fabric trend was for the introduction of metallic finishes and the importance of quilt techniques
  • Next winter promises to be a colourful season, grounded with the cool contrast of classic greys,Berry to cherry, greens and cool blues, all the browns, hot and shoking pink.

SHIFTZERO  ANALYSIS

  • A smartened-up streetwear look pervaded the New York runway, though with contemporary tailoring and layered-styling twists
  • New York amplified this season's streetwear spirit with zip-up hoodies, formal jogger pants and a generally relaxed, urban energy
  • Bonded materials were used for structured outerwear, bomber jackets, rounded sweatshirts, and even cardigans
  • Textured fabrics including plush piles, pulled and nipped knits, dense mohair and shearling were integral to cosy, luxurious collections
  • Nylon was a standout material
  • The new tracksuit also appeared in New York with refreshed updates. sporty influence, with nylon or printed sweatshirts paired with matching pants. The most intriguing were the less sporty, woven looks that created a more utility-uniform look.
  • Ink is a key level of colour for next winter.

SHIFTZERO  ANALYSIS

  • Watch out for a mix of casual/formal looks with sportswear offsetting classic tailoring
  • The slim leather jean pant was the bottomweight of choice this season
  • While signature tailoring continued to dominate in Milan, there was a strong mix of reworked casual/formal looks with sportswear-themed silhouettes
  • The big enveloping coat was a standout look on several runways as designers
  • Tactile and unexpected fabrics were one of the strongest trends. Innovative fabric morphing, seamlessly merging one texture into the next.
  • Tactile fabrics were one of the big trends in Milan – think plush and brushed velvet
  • Blue is a key level of colour for next winter.Looking newest as an outerwear main-shade
  • Milan showed head-to-toe, one-colour dressing

SHIFTZERO  ANALYSIS

  • Sportswear continues to be a major influence, moving into premium luxe looks
  • Variety of rugged furs  putting the luxe touch into casual items such as the sweatshirt, the boxy tunic tee or cocooning blousons
  • The new look is as much about tonal textural mixes
  • The big enveloping coat was a standout look on several runways as designers
  • I highlighted blue as a key colour level for next winter. The look incorporates several shades in one outfit
  • A mix of cool blues and winter white with saffron and red; The other way to use the new polar whites is in bold mixes with black to create a new monochromatic story
